Richard James "Rick� Bass, 46, Independence, Mo., died March 1, 2004. Services will be 1 pm, Friday, March 5, 2004 at Speaks Suburban Chapel; interment at Missouri State Veterans Cemetery, Higginsville, Mo. Visitation will be 6 - 8 pm, Thursday at the funeral home. The family suggests contributions to the Rick Bass Memorial Fund, c/o Naomi McDonald, Bank of Jacomo, P.O. Box 520, Blue Springs, MO 64013. Rick was born July 15, 1957 in New Bern, NC. He was an Army veteran and was raised in the Lutheran faith. He was preceded in death by his father, Richard D. Bass and a great-niece, Lauren Lockard. He is survived by a daughter, Brittney M. Bass, Grain Valley, MO; his parents, Naomi and Robert McDonald, Indep., MO; sister, Sherrie Gibson, and husband, Stephen, Indep., MO; sister, Shannon Abeln, and husband, Gregory, Naples, FL; sister, Robin Shepperson, and husband, Joseph, Danville, PA; and many other nieces, nephews, family members and friends.
