Ralph L. Bauer, 84, of Independence, MO, passed away Monday, August 6, 2007 at Centerpoint Medical Center. Services will be 10:00 a.m. Friday, August 10, 2007 at Speaks Suburban Chapel. Visitation will be 6-8:00 p.m. Thursday, August 9, 2007 in the chapel. Burial in Oak Ridge Memory Gardens. Ralph was born January 9, 1923 in Kansas City, MO to John and Ruth (Cross) Bauer. He proudly served in the U.S. Army during WWII. Ralph was part of a special invasion unit with the first troops that landed on Omaha Beach on D-Day, June 6, 1944. Mr. Bauer took part in five major battles including the Battle of the Bulge. Ralph is survived by his daughters Sherrie Lux and husband Mark, Stephanie Goddard and husband Andy, Celeste Browns and husband James, Nancy Ray and husband Bill; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; sister Ann Denison and husband Jim; brother Clarence Bauer. Ralph was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Bonnie Bauer in December of 2005.
