Vern Dale Beale
Vern Dale Beale, 80, of Independence, MO passed away on August 14, 2007 at St. Luke’s East Hospital in Lee’s Summit, MO. Dale was born on January 23, 1927 in Rural New Cambria, MO to Lincoln Joseph and Mabel (Jenkins) Beale. He graduated from New Cambria High School in 1945. Dale served as a Sergeant in the US Army in Switzerland and Germany during WWII. On June 24, 1950 he married Cleo Mae Siemens. Dale retired as a Superintendent after 38 years with Missouri Gas Energy. He was a proud member of the Raytown Masonic Lodge. In his past time, Dale had been a Cub Scout leader, Y-Indian guide leader, and a coach for baseball, basketball and football teams. Dale’s greatest passion was his family, and to each one he gave special love. He was always there for his family and friends no matter what the need. He will be dearly missed. Dale is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Cleo Beale; two daughters, Debbie Rae and Rick Shoemaker of New Cambria and Beckie Kae Stark of Independence; one son, Danny Beale of Independence; and daughter-in-law, Delida Beale of Independence; seven grandchildren, Tom and Tarra Shoemaker of Macon, MO, Jeff Shoemaker and fiancé Jessica Shumacher of Oklahoma City, OK, Ben Shoemaker of New Cambria, Tony Stark of Independence, Cody Stark of Independence, Brandie Beale of Omaha, NE and Bailey Beale of Independence; loving pet, Mabel; three brothers, Weldon Beale of Kansas City, Leonard and Marge Beale of Independence and Charles and Phyllis Beale of Pleasant Hill, MO; one sister, Hazel Hershberger of Independence; brother’s-in-law, Charles and Norma Siemens of New Cambria, Virgil Siemens Jr. and Opal Witt of Bucklin; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Dale was preceded in death by his parents; his in-laws, Virgil and Mabel Siemens; one brother, Bobby Beale; one son-in-law, Chuck Stark; a brother-in-law, Charles Hershberger; and two sister’s-in-law, Sinda Standley and Wanda Beale. Pallbearers will include Tom, Jeff, Ben, and Jim Shoemaker, Tony and Cody Stark; and two honorary pallbearers, Brandie and Bailey Beale. A visitation will be held in Independence, MO from 5:30-8:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 16, at the Speaks Suburban Chapel. Prior to the visitation, at 5:00 p.m. a Masonic Service will be held in the chapel. A separate visitation will be held in New Cambria, MO from 9-11:00 a.m. on Friday, August 17, at the United Church of New Cambria. The service will follow at 11:00 a.m. at the church and under the direction of Gilleland-McElwain Funeral Home of New Cambria. Burial at New Cambria Cemetery.
