L. Beardsley

L. Fern Beardsley, 93, of Independence, MO passed away Tuesday, January 8th, 2013. Funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. Monday January 21st, 2013 at Carson Speaks Chapel; 1501 W Lexington Ave Independence, MO 64052. Burial will be Mound Grove Cemetery, Independence.
Fern was born November 14th, 1919 in Andover, MO, to James William and Catherine (McDowell) Carpenter, as one of many children. She graduated from a local high school and attended one semester at Graceland College. Fern later married Maynard Beardsley and together they had two children. She was an accomplished homemaker and a life long member of the RLDS church. Fern enjoyed holiday family gatherings and was very close to her siblings. Her children fondly remember good food cooked by their mother and the family vacation home near Lake of the Ozarks. Fern is loved and will be missed.
Fern is survived by daughter, Donna Beardsley, Independence, MO; son, Burt Beardsley and wife Wendy of Tucson, AZ; and two siblings. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and many other siblings. In lieu of flowers the family encourages donations to Gudgell Park Community of Christ; 500 East Gudgell, Independence MO 64055.
