Sister Mary Bernadines entire life was spent in Missouri. Born Oct. 10, 1917 in Kansas City, adopted by a Pierce City family, she entered the convent in Nevada and moved with the sisters to Independence. She was a simple woman with profound faith. Her work of farming, gardening, painting, laundry and cooking (St. Johns Seminary & St. Francis Academy) was always done with great love and quiet humility. When the work was difficult she would call on her "Heavenly helpers, Jesus, Mary, Joseph and her guardian angel, who never failed to assist her in her need. As her years of faithfulness grew to nearly seven decades and her mind weakened she would pray the rosary, and delight in a short visit or the sight of a child. She would often ask, "Where am I at? and soon forget the answer but today there are no questions to ask, no answers forgotten - only Jesus, her greatest desire.
She is survived by a step-sister Mildred Witt, Pierce City, MO and many nieces and nephews.
