Vernita Mae Bendet (Robinson)

Vernita Mae Bendet, 93 of Independence, MO passed away, Wednesday, June 29, 2016 at the Villages of Jackson Creek. Private family services will be held with burial in Mound Grove Cemetery. Vernita was born July 3, 1922 in Independence, MO to Ernest and Sarah (Jennings) Robinson and has been a lifelong area resident. She worked for 23 years as a claims specialist for the Social Security Administration in downtown Kansas City until she retired in 1987. Prior to that she had worked for 9 years as assistant to the principal at William Chrisman High School. She was a member of the Declaration’s of Independence and the women’s auxiliary of the American Legion. She was married to M. Vernon Bendet, Jr. who preceded her in death in 1999. Survivors include: a son, Roger Bendet and wife Judy of Lake Winnebago, MO; 2 grandchildren, Christopher and Jonathan and 3 great grandchildren, Lilli, Luna and Lennox.
