Vincent Salvatore “Vince” Benedetti, 82, passed away on January 11, 2021 in Lee’s Summit, Missouri.
Vince was born July 22, 1938 in Kansas City, Missouri to Umberto Benedetti and Iginia Roselli Benedetti. As a teenager Vince worked at Odo's Grocery Store in Northeast Kansas City. He attended trade school after graduating from Northeast High School and started working as a serviceman in the commercial heating and cooling business in 1957 with Midland Heating and Air Conditioning in Kansas City. He became a pipe-fitter in 1962.
He married Katherine M. “Kitty” Lasala at St. Bernadette’s Catholic Church in Kansas City, Missouri on April 25, 1965, and they became the proud parents of two sons, Joseph and Anthony. The Benedettis were longtime members of Our Lady of the Presentation Parish in Lee’s Summit.
From 1978 to 1991 Vince was the Vice-President of Midland Heating and Air Conditioning. In October 1991, he created Miss Kitty's Deli and Pasta Parlor in downtown Lee's Summit, Missouri which he ran with his wife, Katherine, for 19 years.
In his spare time, Vince enjoyed fishing, boating & sailing, drawing, and even had a brief flirtation with clay sculpting. His fondest memories include three trips to Hawaii (one with his sons in March of 1981), the cross-country road trip to California in 1976 with his family, and momentous fishing trips to Canada with many friends (including his longtime friend Benny Inzerillo, brother-in-law Jim Collins, and father-in-law, Joe Lasala). He adored his 1961 Chevrolet Corvair, even though it may have gotten stuck in the snow once or twice!
Vince is survived by his loving wife of nearly 56 years Katherine “Kitty” Benedetti; his two sons Joe Benedetti and Anthony Benedetti; and two brothers Robert “Bobby” Benedetti and John Benedetti.
He was preceded in death by his parents Umberto and Iginia Benedetti.
