Howard Virgil Bennett

Howard Virgil Bennett, 90, of Mexico, MO, formerly of Independence, MO, passed away Tuesday, February 7th. Graveside services will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, February 20th at Mt. Washington Cemetery. Cremation. Howard was born January 14, 1916 in Independence, MO to Alfred H. and Alice Lee (Davis) Bennett. He was a Golden Gloves Champion boxer in the greater Kansas City area and a champion boxer in the U.S. Marine Corp. He proudly served in WWII, during active combat in the Pacific Theater. Mr. Bennett is survived by his daughters Dixie Ryan of Odessa, MO, Kathleen Palmer of Blue Springs, MO, Patricia Reed of Jefferson City, MO; daughter-in-law Elizabeth Bennett; 12 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son Howard V. Bennett.
