William Lee Bennett, 78 of Independence, MO passed away, Saturday, December 10, 2016 at his residence. Service will be 2:00 p.m., Friday, December 16, 2016 at the Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E. 39th St., Independence, MO 64055. Burial will follow in Lobb Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 1:00 p.m., until service time Friday at the chapel. William was born September 9, 1938 in Mansfield, MO to Frank and Georgia (Carroll) Bennett. He had worked as a welder for many years in construction both self employed and for Bill Adams. His true passion was for music. He was a drummer and had played in many bands and performed at several different venues including, The Palladium in Harrisonville that he and his wife owned and at the Fun House Pizza on 40 highway in Independence. Survivors include; his loving wife of 58 years, Donna of the home; a son, Brian Bennett and wife Letitia of Lee’s Summit, MO; a daughter, Brenda Boehm of Independence, MO; a brother, Carroll Bennett of Chattanooga, TN; 2 sisters, Florence Snyder of Appleton City, MO and Ilene Rapp of Sweet Springs, MO; 8 grandchildren, Adam, Stephanie, Lance, April, Ashley, Joseph, Keith and Daniel and 2 great grandsons, Payton Boehm and Daniel Boehm, Jr. He was preceded in death by a son, Barry Bennett in 2001.
