Ruby Benton

Ruby May Benton, 88 of Independence, MO passed away Sunday, September 9, 2012 at St. Mary's Medical Center in Blue Springs. Cremation is planned with a private inurnment service to be held at Liberty Cemetery in Warrensburg, MO. Donations may be made in her name to the American Cancer Society. Ruby was born November 16, 1923 in Warrensburg, MO to Grover and Myrtle Eunice (Hayes) Sims. She had worked as a bookkeeper for over 30 years at Montgomery Wards until she retired in 1988. She enjoyed crossword puzzles, bowling and traveling. She was member of a Bridge Club and the New Era Club. She is survived by; a daughter, June Moore and her husband Don of Independence, MO; 2 grandchildren, Mike Moore and his wife Sarah and Shelli Moore; 2 great grandchildren, Cory Moore and Megan Green and her husband Jon; 2 brothers, Melvin Sims and his wife Irma of Warrensburg, MO and G.W. Sims and his wife Gloria of Ft. Lauderdale, FL. She was preceded in death by 2 sisters, Thelma Ahring and Goldie Neil and 3 brothers, Frank Sims, Robert Sims and Shorty Sims.
