Kenneth C. Bentz

Kenneth C. Bentz, 84, of Independence, MO, formerly of Fremont and Schuyler, NE, passed away at home on the morning of January 13, 2004. Cremation, no services planned. He was born on December 21, 1919 in Hooper, NE. Ken served in the Navy Seabee�s during World War II. He married Jane Moffet on June 24, 1939 in Fremont, NE. In 1958, the Bentz�s opened a Coast to Coast Hardware store in Schuyler, NE. Eleven years later, the Bentz�s decided to sell their hardware business and in 1969, moved to Independence, MO. They opened a Coast to Coast store in the Susquehanna Shopping Center in Independence, and after many years, enjoyed an early retirement. He is survived by his younger brother, Richard Bentz of FL; his son Kenneth D. Bentz and his wife Karen; his daughter Linda L. Sladek and her husband Don, all of Independence. Five grandchildren, Rochelle Buckner and her husband Bucky of Springfield, MO, Rick Bentz and his wife Debbie, Sheila Speake and her husband Roger, Patty Snider and her husband Kelly and Donnie Sladek, all of Independence. Eleven great-grandchildren also survive him. The Angels have escorted him and he is now in the hands of our loving Heavenly Father. Now joining his wife of 63 years, may he rest in peace.
