Ken Bergman, 86, of Independence, MO passed away Tuesday, June 18, 2019. Ken was born on May 9, 1933 in Pilot Grove, MO to Karl and Mary Bergman. He grew up on his grandfather’s farm and was confirmed in 1946 at the Pilot Grove Community Church where he has been a member ever since. After graduating high school, he enlisted in the United States Air Force. He later earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Missouri in Accounting. In December of 1959 he married Sylvia Grosvenor, who preceded him in death in 2001. Together they had 5 children: Kenneth Bergman, Jr. (Kathy) of Pleasant Hill, MO, Mike Bergman of Independence, MO; Brenda Stewart of Independence, MO; Jesse Bergman of Independence, MO; Pamela Osborn of Independence, MO; and 9 grandchildren: Shawn Allen (Heather), Jennifer Bremer (Russell), Travis Sympson (Yuliana), Amber Ralston (Clint), Mathew Osborn (Kimberly), Douglas Bergman, Dustin Stewart, Stormy Standley, and Austin Stewart; plus several great- grandchildren. He retired from General Motors and was a hobby farmer until his passing. Ken was an honest and outgoing man and was always willing to share his opinion. A visitation will be held from 2-4pm on Saturday, June 22 at St. Luke’s United Church of Christ 727 N. Main St, Independence, MO, 64050. On June 25th, there will be a second visitation from 10-11am and a service from 11-12 at the Pilot Grove Community Church 12344 N. State Hwy N, Pilot Grove, MO, 65276 with burial service to follow.
