Martha G. Berndt

Martha Gladys Berndt, 100, of Independence, MO passed away on Saturday, October 9th at Independence Manor Care Center. Services will be 2:00 pm Wednesday, October 13th, at Speaks Suburban Chapel. Visitation will be 1 hour prior to the service from 1-2:00 pm. Burial in Oak Ridge Memory Gardens. Martha was born August 14, 1904 in Harrison, OH to Clarence and Pearl May (Chappelow) Thomas. Martha worked at KC Boys Wear as a manager for 40 years. She enjoyed spending time with her grandkids and family. Mrs. Berndt was a member of the Gudgell Park Congregation. She is survived by her daughter Allene Solomon of Independence, MO; grandson Steve Solomon and wife Avan, of Odessa, MO; grandson Tom Solomon and wife Connie, of Platte City, MO; granddaughter Kathi Solomon-Duda and husband Guenther Duda of Alberta, Canada; grandson Richard Solomon of Kansas City, MO; grandson Paul Solomon of Omaha, NE; great-grandchildren Melissa Solomon, Laurie Carroll, Chad, Nick, Kelly, Josh, and Stacy Solomon, Tori Solomon-Duda; great-great-grandchildren Stephanie Solomon, Erica and Dennis Helt, Deaton, Amanda and Blake Carroll, Madison and Hailee Solomon. Martha was preceded in death by her daughters Nadine and Elta; husband Otto Berndt.
