Dano Bert

Tom Bert, age 72, of Independence, Missouri, passed away on June 5th, 2008 at his home. Dano Thomas Bert Jr. was born November 25th, 1935, the son of Dano Thomas Bert Sr. and Charlotte Bert (Jones) in Barberton, OH. Tom was a loving husband and father, a friendly helpful neighbor, and a devoted servant of God. Tom was an ordained minister and served as a church pastor for over 25 years in congregations of the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints located in Sebring, OH and Barberton, OH. He continued to serve in ministry for the Church of Jesus Christ Belton Restoration Branch, of which he was a member after moving to Missouri in September of 1997. Mr. Bert was a retired schoolteacher, teaching vocational engineering drafting at the Alliance, OH High School for 32 years. Mr. Bert is a graduate of Graceland College in Lamoni, IA as well as Kent State University in Kent, OH. After moving to Missouri he also taught school for a brief time at Center Place Restoration School and also at the Oak Valley branch where he also served as administrator. He was very active in youth programs and spent most of his summers teaching, counseling, and directing church youth camps, both in Ohio and Missouri. He is preceded in death by his mother and stepfather: Alvin H. and Charlotte Jones; his father and stepmother: Dano Thomas Bert Sr and wife Grace; and one stepbrother: Don Haverlick. He is survived by his loving wife of 51 years: Donna Marlene Bert who he married in 1957. Five children and their companions: son, Thomas and his wife Debbie Bert of Salem, OH; son: Terry and his wife Anita Bert of Alliance, OH; daughter: Tammy and her husband Scott Linhart of Upper Sandusky, OH; daughter: Tracy and her husband Kreg Levengood of Independence, MO; son: Troy Bert of Odessa, MO. 14 grandchildren: Andrew Thompson; Terry Jr. and Todd Bert; Nicole, Marissa and Brandon Linhart; Julia, Andrea, Zachery, and Emma Levengood; Ammon, Aareon, Ashlynne, and Annaleise Bert. 3 great-grandchildren: Natalie and Tyler Bert; Chance Thompson. 1 sister: Barbara Pamer of Columbiana, OH. 1 sister-in-law: Peggy Pireaux of Charleroi, PA. 1 mother-in-law: Margaret Raisbeck of Charleroi, PA. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m., Monday, June 9, 2008 at the Speaks Suburban Chapel. The family will greet friends from 2:00 p.m., until services time Monday at the chapel.
