Robert M. Bessmer, 92 of Buckner passed away Fri. Nov. 10, 2006 at St. Mary�s Medical Center. Services will be 10:00 am, Wed, Nov 15, 2006 at St. Luke�s United Church of Christ, 727 N. Main, Indep. MO. Burial in Buckner Hill Cemetery. Friends may call from 6:30 - 8:00 pm Tuesday at the Speaks Buckner Chapel, 300 Adams St., Buckner, MO and also 9 - 10 am Wed. at the church prior to the service. Contributions are suggested to a charity of your choice in Roberts� memory. Mr. Bessmer was born on Nov. 16, 1913 to William and Ida (Whittar) Bessmer in Parkville, MO. He had been a farmer in the Buckner area and had been president of the Farm Bureau, the Jackson County Chamber, and the Buckner Chamber. He was Leader of the Sni Bar Drainage District and a life member of VFW post 8101. He was a member of St. Luke�s United Church of Christ and had served on the Council and the Men�s Fellowship. He along with his wife, Florence enjoyed traveling throughout the world on various farming tours. He was an Army Veteran of WWII. Robert was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and two grandchildren. He is survived by his wife, Florence Bessmer of Buckner; four stepchildren, Carolyn Redmond and husband George of Warrenville, SC, Betty Sue McComas of Richmond, MO, Donna Fairchild and husband Wayne of Napoleon, MO and Jo Ann Lampton of Kilm, MS. A sister, Nora Kyger of Independence, MO, two sisters in law, Rosemary Bessmer of Buckner, MO, and Dorothy Clark of Higginsville, MO. Brother in law and sister in law, Dean and Barbara Clark of Brule, NE. thirteen grandchildren, several great grandchildren and great great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
