Beverly Doris Bone, a loving family member and dedicated educator, passed away on February 15, 2024, in Independence, MO. She was born on August 2, 1941, in Mayfield, KY, to her parents James "Vernon" and Ruth Thomas.
Beverly's passion for teaching led her to spend the majority of her career nurturing young minds at Glendale Elementary in Independence, MO, where she taught 1st grade. She graduated from Wingo High School in Wingo, KY, in 1959 and later earned her degree from Bethel College in McKenzie, TN in 1964.
Outside of her professional life, Beverly was known for her love and devotion to her family. Her husband of 62 years, Howard "Leslie," who she cherished deeply, preceded her in death in 2021.
She is survived by her daughters Angela Blomberg and Pamela Hayes along with Pamela's husband Phil Hayes. Beverly who was known as Mer by all who loved her, will also be remembered fondly by her grandchildren Lindsay Daughhetee, Dylan Blomberg, Madelyn Hayes, Samuel Hayes, and Elizabeth Hayes; as well as one great-grandson Cole Daughhetee. In addition to her immediate family members are her sister Donna McClain and Donna's husband Robert McClain of Mayfield, KY.
Services to honor and celebrate Beverly's life will be held at Speaks Suburban Chapel in Independence for visitation on Tuesday evening, February 20th from 6-8:00pm; First Presbyterian Church of Lee's Summit for the funeral service on Wednesday, February 21st at 11:00am; and Floral Hills East Cemetery in Lee's Summit for the graveside service on the same day. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Kansas City Hospice.
Beverly will be remembered not only for her contributions to education, but also for the love she shared with her family and friends. Her legacy will live on through the countless lives she touched during her time on this earth.
