Betty Louise Beyer

August 23, 1934 — July 10, 2020

Betty Louise Beyer, 85, passed away on July 10, 2020.

Betty was born on August 23, 1934, in Higginsville, Missouri, the daughter of Robert Earl Winfrey and Mabel Leona (Brown) Winfrey. She graduated from Northeast High School and married shortly thereafter. She and William Wayne Chancellor were blessed with three children.

Betty was a devoted stay-at-home mom and homemaker. She loved to crochet and to sew clothing and costumes for her children. She also spent many hours tending to her acre garden and canning the produce. The whole family made many trips to the Chancellor farm, where she would bale hay, drive tractors, and any other farm tasks she was asked to do. She was a longtime member of Bethel Baptist Church. Wayne passed away in 1984, and Betty remarried to Durward Beyer, who also preceded her in death. Later in life, she enjoyed the occasional trip to the casino and doting on her Shih-Tsu puppy named Sugar.

She fought a long, courageous battle with Alzheimer’s disease. Her feistiness, ornery spirit, and deep love for her family will remain in the hearts and minds of those who knew her.

She is survived by her three children, Gary Chancellor (wife Debbie), Diane Chancellor, and Richard Chancellor; grandchildren, Christine Chancellor, Angela Keeton, Trenton Donnelly, and Sarah Donnelly; great-grandchildren, Celia Porter, Anaston Porter, Lexia Donnelly, and Avery Donnelly; sister Jean Allison; and many extended family.

In addition to her two husbands Wayne and Durward, she was also preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Mabel Winfrey; sister, JoAnne Holway; and beloved puppy Sugar.

A graveside service will be held on Friday, July 17, at 1:00 p.m., at Spring Branch Cemetery in Avery, Missouri.

The family wishes to express their deep gratitude for the care and compassion Betty received with the staff at Heartland Hospice. Contributions may be made to them in her honor.
