Billie Jean Monaco, 93 of Independence, Missouri passed away peacefully with family by her side on Monday, October 9, 2023. Billie was born to William and Zada (Yeatts) Huffaker on June 23, 1930 in Kansas City, Missouri
While attending Northeast High School Billie met the love of her life, Russell. They were married on January 31, 1953 and spent the next 51 years creating memories together until Russell’s untimely passing on February 25, 2004. To that union came 4 children, Jacquelyn, Russell Jr., Gerald and Patricia. Billie loved her family fiercely and was blessed to be able to stay home to care for them for many years. Later in life she and her husband ran several small establishments together such as a sandwich shop and other restaurants. During Billie’s downtime she enjoyed quilting and was quite talented at it. She was also passionate about genealogy and spent countless hours learning about her heritage. Billie was a strong woman of faith and dedicated much of her time to her Lord and serving others within the Catholic community. She was a proud member of the altar and rosary society for many years. Billie was a member of St. Joseph the Worker until the parish closed in 2022. Billie’s zest for life, quirky sense of humor and kind presence will be missed beyond measure by those she loved.
She is survived by her children, Jacquelyn (Ron) Duvall, Russell Monaco Jr., Gerald (Victoria) Monaco and Patricia Monaco; grandchildren, Nicole Taylor (Gustavo Quintero), Jeremy Monaco (Christina), Joseph Monaco (Tiffany Hibbs) and Danielle Podraza (Josh); 8 great-grandchildren with another on the way and numerous friends and extended family members.
Billie is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Russell Monaco Sr.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the American Heart Association in memory of Billie.
