Evan Abram Billings, 80, died October 27, 2005, in Salt Lake City, Utah. He was born September 13, 1925, in Delta, Utah, to Claude Duval and Lydia Workman Billings. He married Elda Mae Lewis on July 26, 1945, in the Manti LDS Temple. Evan served in the U.S. Army Air Corp during World War II. He raised his family in Provo, Utah until 1980, when they relocated to Independence. He was an active leader in the LDS church and a devoted temple worker. Evan was preceded in death by his sweetheart. Survivors include: Susan (Robert) Mitchell, Utah; Roger (Tonja) Billings, Gallatin, Mo.; Nancy (Stephen) Allen, Utah; Lewis (Patti) Billings, Utah; Mary (Bryan) Jones, Idaho; and Anne (Matthew) Untch, Independence; 45 grandchildren; 55 great grandchildren; two sisters, Mary Strong, SLC, and Ava (June) Shaw, SLC; and two brothers, ALonzo Billings, American Fork, and Melvin D. (Joann) Billings, Provo. A viewing will be held Thursday evening, November 3, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Carson Speaks Funeral Home, 1501 W. Lexington Avenue in Independence. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, November 4, at the Independence Stake Chapel, 705 W. Walnut. Funeral services were held in Salt Lake City. Interment is in Mt. Washington Cemetery in Independence.
