Gladys Binger, 101, of Independence, was taken home by her dear Lord and Savior Jesus Christ to be in eternal peace on Saturday, May 15, 2021.
Gladys was born on January 20, 1920 to Ralph and Anna Smith in Bowen, Missouri. She was the second of four children. She was married to David V. Binger after losing her first husband to World War II. She had four children.
Gladys graduated from Leeton High School in 1939. She would go to become an LPN and received her nursing home administrator's license. She and David owned and operated nursing homes for more than 30 years, which included Cable Nursing Home which was located in the Vaile Mansion.
She was a very active member of Stone Church Community of Christ, and a member of the priesthood. The church recently named the kitchen in her honor as she was in charge of cooking for several decades, only retiring in her early 90s. She was also the "hostess with the mostest" in her home. Besides her cooking skills she had a passion for cleanliness, had seemingly endless energy and great love for people.
She was beloved by many and will be dearly missed. Left to cherish her memories are her four children, Linda Lowry Craig, Gladys Louise Binger, David K. Binger and partner Judy Hutsell, Daniel Binger and wife Brenda; eight grandchildren, Sheila Anderson (William), Teresa Mitchell, Muril Stone (Becky), Tracy Stamey (Garrick), Lisa Harness (Wayne), Matthew Stone (Jennifer), Charles Binger (Felicita), Danielle Binger; eleven great-grandchildren, Warren Hayter, Jonathan Stone, Ray Stone, Elizabeth Stone, Sara Stone, Abigail Stamey, Graham Mitchell, Emma Shelley, Logrum Shelley, Maya Binger, Camila Binger; 1 great-great grandchild, Mattox Mitchell; her sister Genevieve Carpenter of Lee's Summit, and her many dear friends.
