Thomas Edward Bishop, Jr., 79, of Independence, Mo, passed away, Saturday, November 24, 2007 at Carmel Hills Living Center. Services will be 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, November 28, 2007 at the Speaks Suburban Chapel. Entombment will be in Mt. Washington Mausoleum. The family will greet friends from 6 to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday evening at the chapel. Donations may be made to the First Christian Church of Independence 125 S. Pleasant, Independence, MO 64050. Thomas was born April 3, 1928 in Independence, MO to Thomas and Myrtle (Inman) Bishop, Sr. He has been a lifelong area resident graduating from William Chrisman High School in 1946. He worked for over 26 years for Kenworth Truck Company retiring in 1985 as a supervisor. He enjoyed woodworking and playing cards. He was a member of the First Christian Church. Thomas is survived by his wife of 59 years, Carol (Thurmon); a daughter, Denise Marchin and her husband Joe of Lenexa, KS; 2 sons, Dennis Bishop and his wife Barbara of Prairie Village, KS and David Bishop and his wife Janet of Colorado Springs, CO; 2 sisters, Merry Lambe of Independence, MO and Helen Robinson of Blue Springs, MO; 5 grandchildren, Renee and Robin Marchin and James, Jennifer and Jonathan Bishop.
