Dennis L. Blachford, 66, of Blue Springs, Mo passed away unexpectedly February 12, 2016. Visitation will be from 6-8pm Monday February 15, 2016 at Speaks Suburban Chapel. Funeral services will be 10am, Wednesday, February 17, 2015 at Cutler-O’Neil-Meyer-Woodring Funeral Home in Council Bluffs IA. Burial will take place in IA.
Dennis was born on September 14, 1949 in Highmore SD to Albert and Marcella (Ringham) Blachford. It was during high school that Dennis met the love of his life, Vera Simons. Together they shared 46 wonderful years. Dennis had recently retired from Sutherland Lumber after 48 years. He had started loading box cars, and retired his career as a corporate buyer. Dennis was a very devoted father and grandfather. He attended all of the events his children and grandchildren participated in and loved every minute of it. In his spare time he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and golf.
Survivors include: wife Vera Blachford; son Sean Blachford and wife Terri; daughter Kristi Waffle; 4 grandchildren: Hunter, McKenna, Courtney and Caden; brother Richard Blachford; sister Bonnie Heinzman; and a very large extended family.
