William Blanton

William Blanton, 90, of Independence, MO passed away on June 5, 2006 at the Maywood Terrace Living Center. A visitation will be held from 1-2:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 8, at the Rockwood Baptist Church, with the service following at 2:00 p.m. at the church. Burial at Mt. Washington Cemetery. William was born on February 10, 1916 to James and Minnie Blanton. He lived most of his life in the Independence area, and was a long-time member of the Rockwood Baptist Church. He was a hard worker who loved to help his family and friends. William was an accomplished mechanic, working at several mechanic shops in the Kansas City area. He was a man of unyielding presence and unbelievable will power. William was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Wilma Blanton; and one son, William Charles Blanton. He is survived by his two grandsons, Robert and Michael Blanton; three great grandsons, Blake Chinn, Michael Ward and Will Blanton; and one great granddaughter, Rachael Blanton.
