Geraldine Bly, 94, of Lone Jack, MO passed away on Friday, June 2, 2017 surrounded by her family at her home. A visitation will be held from 6-8pm on Wednesday, June 7, 2017 at Carson-Speaks Chapel, 1501 W. Lexington Ave, Independence, MO, 64052. A service will be held at 10am on Thursday, June 8, 2017 at the chapel, with interment to follow at Mount Washington Cemetery.
Geraldine was born on February 22, 1923 in Rosedale, KS to Craig and Lillie (Beebe) Combs. After graduating high school, she worked for Montgomery Ward and Pratt and Whitney for a short time before traveling with her husband Marshall during his time in the Marine Corps. Once the war was over she dedicated her life to being a full time mom and raising her family. She loved doing things with her children, being a den mother and getting involved in many of their school activities. She also loved doing things within the church. Geraldine was a past member of Christ United Methodist, currently of The Summit Methodist Church and occasionally of Oak Grove Methodist Church. She was a member of The Social Order of the Beauceant and The Ladies Auxiliary to the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1000.
Geraldine will be remembered by her children Gary Bly, Randy Bly, Janet Bedwell and husband Rick, Linda Harris and husband Jerry – all of Lone Jack, MO; grandchildren Christine Chewning, Loretta Harris and Jeff Boyle, Martin Harris and wife Tara; great-grandchildren Christopher Chewning, Justin Chewning, Cheyenna Johnson, Abigail Harris, and Brooke Boyle.
Gerry was preceded in death by her infant brother Daniel Combs, husband Marshall Bly, and grandson Brett Bly.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Beacon of Hope Hospice in Oak Grove, MO.
