Karen D. Neff Bogard, 73, of Liberty, MO, formally of Independence and Kansas City, MO, passed away February 6, 2023. Karen was born in Kansas City, MO, the first child of Lloyd L. Neff, Jr. and Faith Lamb Neff. She was a 1967 graduate of Southwest High School and received a BA (1971) and MA (1986) in Secondary Education from UMKC. In 1971, as a certified math teacher, she began her teaching career in Shawnee, KS. In 1975, she was hired to teach at Bridger Middle School in the Independence School District, where she remained until retirement in 2000 after 25 years with the district.
Karen love doing word and number puzzles and was an avid reader. She enjoyed her many collections including Beanie Babies, Hallmark ornaments, and anything Elvis. She was a die-hard soap opera fan. But her greatest joy was spending time with her daughter Kimberlee.
Karen was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Lloyd Neff III and Karl Neff. She is survived by her daughter and best friend Kimberlee Burnett (Chris) of Liberty, MO, brother Kevin Neff of Liberty, MO, nephew Max Neff of Rolla, MO, aunt Mary Ann Neff of Belton, MO and many cousins and friends. At her request, she was cremated. In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that donations be made to the KC Pet Project (https://kcpetproject.org/donate/).
