John Bogert Iii

John Bogert III, 61, of Independence, MO passed October 2, 2019 at home. A memorial visitation will be held from 5-7:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 19, at the Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E. 39th St., Independence, MO. John was born June 14, 1958 on Flag Day, in Iowa City, Iowa. The son of Dr. John A. Bogert II of Springfield, MO and Kathryn Kay Schlotzhauer of Lee’s Summit, MO. John attended Independence Public schools from K-12 and graduated from Truman High School Class of 1976. He was a Boy Scout with Troop 226 and a member of Tribe of Mic-O-Say his tribal name was Proud Prancing Antelope. After High School John went to Ohio and had professional training in Audio Engineering and Music Production. John had many jobs through the years but his love for music was his passion, John worked in the Music industry and worked for the musical group The Rainmakers who had a very popular song “Let My People Go Go” during the time he was a sound engineer at The Rainmakers. In later years he worked as an Aircraft Service Technician, and various mechanical service technician positions. John’s wife Denise Odom Hunt Bogert was the love of his life and preceded him in death April 15, 2016. He also had a special place in his heart for his Saturday Breakfast group Family. He is survived by his parents, Dr. John A. Bogert II Springfield, MO and Kathryn K. Schlotzhauer, Lee’s Summit, MO; his son John Raymond Bogert Independence MO, Daughter Holly Holdcroft Blue Springs, MO, daughter April Rzepka Liberty MO Brother David C. Bogert Lee’s Summit MO sister, Ann C. Holmes, Lawrence KS, brother Brian A. Bogert Highlands Ranch CO. Nieces and nephews, Meaghan Holmes, Shelby Byrne, Samuel Bogert, Grandchildren, Kylie Cox, Sadie and Shelbie Holdcroft, David Rzepka. John loved pets of all kinds and adopted multiple dogs throughout his life. In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to Wayside Waifs Pet Rescue, 3901 Martha Truman Rd, Kansas City, MO 64137, to help support homeless and pets in need.
