William Peace Bohnert, Sr. 92, passed away Wednesday, July 14, 2004 at the rural Independence home in which he was born on August 23, 1911. Bill was a member of the Woodland School Board and active in the Jackson County 4-H Foundation. Additionally, he was a Jackson County Farm Bureau member and belonged to Knights of Columbus Council number 7055. Bill was a long-time parishioner of the Catholic Church of Santa Fe in Buckner, MO. He retired after a career of over 38 years with the US Postal Service in Missouri and California. In addition, Bill owned and operated Peacedale Farm for over 60 years. Bill was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Eleanor Catherine Kohake Bohnert. His survivors include two daughters, Dowager Baroness Mary Ann Dingli-Attard-Inguanez of Independence, Harriet Priore and husband Charles of Kenyon, MN; five sons, Bill Bohnert, Jr and wife Ann of Independence, MO, Bob Bohnert and wife Lynn of Orlando, FL, Phil Bohnert and wife Ann of Raymore, George Bohnert and wife Susie of Harrisonville, MO and David Bohnert of Independence, MO; 11 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 am Saturday, July 17th at the Catholic Church of Sante Fe; with interment in Woodlawn Cemetery. A Rosary will be prayed Friday at 7 pm with visitation following until 8:30 pm at the Church. The family suggests contributions to the Kansas City Hospice or the Church.
