On February 28, 2022, Darrell Lane Bolt, dear husband of the late Parealee Bolt and beloved father of three children, passed away at age 89.
Darrell was born on June 18, 1932 in Independence, Missouri to Lottie and Lane Bolt. He was a 1951 graduate of William Chrisman High School. In 1953 he married Parealee Bryant, also a William Chrisman graduate, class of 1952. They raised three children, Kathy, Steven, and Robert.
Darrell had a long career at Armco Steel, after first working for Western Blueprint in Kansas City. After thirty-two years with Armco, he retired in the late 1980s, and opened Quality Microfilm until selling it. After this second retirement, he became a guide at the Community of Christ Temple in Independence, a position he loved. And from the feedback of those who took his tours, they loved him and his vast knowledge of church history.
Darrell was an active member of the Cornerstone Community of Christ congregation and held the office of Elder. Over his lifetime, he served the church in many ministerial positions in several congregations and participated in classes of scripture study and specifically the archeology of the scriptures. He enjoyed woodworking, taking classes to perfect his craftsmanship. His grandchildren love the many pieces he has made them, especially the rocking horses.
Darrell is preceded in death by his dear wife Parealee Bryant Bolt who passed on February 12, 2022. They were married for sixty-eight years. He is survived by his three children Kathy (Mark) Franzblau, Steven (Carol) Bolt, and Robert (Aimee) Bolt, eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
The family will hold a private graveside service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Lake Doniphan Conference Center, 500 W. Pacific Ave., Independence, MO, 64050. Write Darrell Bolt in the memo line.
