Joseph Bono

August 13, 1916 — September 9, 2008

Joseph F. Bono, Jr., 92, Lee’s Summit, MO passed away Sept. 9, 2008 at John Knox Care Center. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 9 am, Sat., Sept. 13 at St. Mark’s Catholic Church, in Independence; interment at Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 6 pm, Friday at Speaks Suburban Chapel to be followed by a Rosary at 7:30 pm. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions to the American Diabetes Assoc. or the Alzheimer‘s Assoc.
Joseph was born Aug. 13, 1916 to Joseph F., Sr. and Josephine Bono in Jackson County. His family moved to California where he graduated from Whittier High School. He owned Palace Liquor and Grocery at 27th & Benton for 29 years. He was a member of St. Mark’s Parish.
Joseph was preceded in death by his wife Marie A. Bono in 1991. He is survived by son Charles A. Bono, Lee’s Summit, MO; daughter Toni J. Libeer; granddaughter Catrina Ricketts; great-grandson Carter LaLumia; all of Kansas City, MO; and many other nieces, nephews and cousins.
