Dora Borgstadt, 84, a longtime resident of Independence, MO, passed away Wednesday, July 13, 2016. A visitation will be held from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. on Monday, July 18, 2016 at Speaks Suburban Chapel 18020 E. 39th St, Independence, MO, 64055. A service will follow at 10:00 a.m. at the chapel. Dora was born October 2, 1931 in Sibley, MO to Kirby and Martha Adams. She was a 1951 graduate of William Chrisman High School, a member of First Christian Church of Independence, and a member of Daughters of the American Revolution. She attended two years of Business College and was employed at Vendo Corporation where she met and later married Virgil Borgstadt. They were married on August 7, 1953. She retired from Mobil Oil Corporation in 1986 and from the Independence School District in 2001, where she worked with special needs students. She will be remembered by her daughters Patricia Elliott and husband Rick, Sharon Schubert and husband James; grandchildren Travis Elliott, Brandon Elliott and wife Christina, Addison Schubert, Sabrina Schubert; great grandsons Rowan, Wyatt, and Noah Elliott; and many extended family members. She was preceded in death by her husband Virgil and a brother Givens L. Adams. The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to First Christian Church of Independence.
