John Arthur Borne, 43, passed away peacefully in the early morning of March 14 in the privacy of his home, with his mother by his side.
John was preceded in death by his Grandmother, Genevieve Van Tassel; his Grandfather, Norman Van Tassel; and his dearest friend Natasha Crawford.
He is survived by his mother, Marilyn Maggio, sister Monica Bollinger, and three children – Austin, Jonathan, and Abby.
Anyone who knew John, knew that he was a kind and gentle man with a broad array of interests. Among other things, he enjoyed travelling. In his childhood, he travelled with his family to Austin, TX, Washington DC, the Smokey Mountains, and Annapolis Maryland where he attended sailing school.
Although he did not travel often in his adulthood, he did have the opportunity to travel to England, Ireland, and Scotland as well as other parts of Europe, which was one of the highlights of his life. John also enjoyed caving in some of the many caves of southern Missouri.
As a child, John was quite the engineer and enjoyed building remote control airplanes as well as rockets from scratch. In addition, he could duplicate the space shuttle to scale with card board and tape.
John’s working life largely involved being a security officer, but what he loved most and where his true passion lied was in firefighting. He had the great honor of being a volunteer fire fighter for Blue Summit.
