Charles E. “Chuck” Borum, 77, of Independence, MO passed away at home on Sunday, April 17th, 2016. A visitation will be held from 1:00-2:00pm Friday, April 22nd at Speaks Suburban Chapel on 39th Street. A funeral service will follow at 2:00pm at the chapel. Cremation will be held at a later time with interment at Missouri State Veterans Cemetery, Higginsville, MO.
Chuck was born August 31, 1938 in St. Louis, MO. After graduating from high school he enlisted in the United States Army where he proudly served during the Vietnam War. He worked numerous jobs throughout his life including a time as a cemetery counselor, as well as his favorite job as bus driver for the University of Missouri, “Mizzou” athletic teams. Chuck married his beloved Teresa (Stroud) on October 10th, 1998 at a surprise 90th birthday celebration for her mother. He was a fine cook who enjoyed lots of garlic. He was a good Christian man who attended Eastgate Christian Church and enjoyed cooking for the mens breakfast. His family remembers him as creative, caring, full of surprises; including a few loving pranks. Chuck is loved and will be missed.
Survivors include wife, Teresa of the home; daughter Deborah Cooley (Steve); granddaughter Aarin Wentzel (Matt); grandson, Ryan-Tucker Aagesen; and great grandchildren Kylie Cole and Addison Mae Wentzel all of Santa Fe, TX. He was preceded in death by his mother, Lura Mae (Jackson) Marren and stepfather, John Raymond Marren.
