Phyllis Jean Bossert, of Raytown, MO, passed away July 9, 2022, just a few days before her 100th birthday. A visitation will be held Tuesday, July 19th from 10-11am with a funeral mass following at 11am, both at St. Peter’s Catholic Church, 815 E Meyer Blvd, Kansas City, MO 64131. Interment will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Raytown, MO.
Phyllis was born on July 13, 1922, in Morris, IL to John and Helen (Murphy) Cashen. She graduated from Paseo High School. On September 26, 1942, she married Alfred Joseph “Joe” Bossert Jr. and were together 63 years before his passing in 2005. Phyllis was a homemaker and mother for most of her life, however, once the children were grown, she worked as an executive secretary for a local insurance company. She also volunteered time at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, where she was a long-time member, plus at Research Medical Center.
Phyllis was a skilled seamstress and enjoyed making Halloween costumes for her children and grandchildren. Phyllis enjoyed reading and crossword puzzles, and she had a positive outlook on life with a good sense of humor. She spent many enjoyable hours babysitting for her grandchildren and cooking their favorite pancakes. She lived a full and loving life and will be dearly missed.
Phyllis is preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband, Joe; daughters, Joan Carol Bossert and Marilyn Patricia Hollar; her brother Jack Cashen and sister, Shirley Greenhaw.
She leaves behind her sons, Philip Joseph (Liwei Kimura) Bossert of Honolulu HI, William Edward (Lois) Bossert of Horn Lake MS, and Steven Vincent (Patricia) Bossert of Shawnee KS; grandchildren, Lian Bossert, Noelle Bossert, Valerie (Ethan) Minderman, Laura (Jasen) Colstion, Sarah (Michael Desch) Hollar, Allen (Emily) Hollar; Quintin Bossert, and Zachary Bossert; great-grandchildren, Eli, Sydney, Aurora, Autumn, Abby, Dawson, Grace, and Olivia; as well as two great,great-grandchildren Cayden and Delilah.
