Alicemary Bowen, 97, of KCMO passed away Nov. 8, 2019. Visitation from 9:30-10:30 a.m. with Mass at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, Nov 13, 2019 at St. Matthew The Apostle Parish. Alicemary was born on September 17, 1922 in St. Joseph. MO to Archie and Lola (Harden) Swift. She was married to the love of her life, James “Bob” Bowen on August 16, 1947 at the Holy Trinity Catholic Church. Together they spent 64 wonderful years before his passing on July 17, 2011. Alicemary along with her husband were founding members of St. Matthew the Apostle Catholic Church, Alicemary remained very active in the church after Bob’s passing. She sang in the choir and spent many hours creating Rosary beads for missions in Africa and soldiers serving in Iraq and Afghanistan. Alicemary enjoyed piling the children in the station wagon and traveling the country. Time at home was spent reading, crossword puzzles, and who could forget penny poker nights. Alicemary was greatly loved and will be forever missed by her family and friends. Survivors include: Robert “Butch” Bowen, daughter Bernadette “Bunni” and her husband Rocky; daughter Theresa Erickson and her husband Rae; son Charles “Pat” Bowen and his wife Lisa; sister Jane Tarrant; 9 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; large extended family and many friends. Alicemary is preceded in death by her husband Bob Bowen, parents Archie and Lola Swift, daughter in law Robin Bowen, sisters Margaret Emhoff and Rita Wood, and brothers Bernard and Pat Swift. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to St. Matthew the Apostle Parish building fund in Alicemary’s memory.
