Leila G. Bowen, 94 of Kansas City, MO passed away Thu, Sep 8, 2005 at Lakewood Care Center. A memorial visitation will be 4:00 - 5:30pm, Sat, Sep 17, 2005 at the Speaks Suburban Chapel. In lieu of flowers contributions are suggested to the Salvation Army. Mrs. Bowen was born on Aug 12, 1911 to Walter and Grace Kershner in Paola, KS. She was a graduate of Research School of Nursing and had been a Registered Nurse in charge of the Nursery at Research Hospital, retiring in 1976. She had also been a Public Health Nurse, a School Nurse and a Private Duty Nurse.. She loved to embroider and was a great doodler. She always had a great outlook on life and for the past several years she enjoyed doing various crafts, playing bingo, looking at flowers and going to Friday night Happy Hour at Lakewood Care Center. She had been a member of the "Friday Night Dinner Group� since 1978 and had traveled many places including, both coasts, Canada, Mexico, Europe and most recently St. Louis, Chicago and New Orleans. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd W. Bowen in 1964 and by three siblings, Osborn, Mary and Vivian. She is survived by two daughters, Julie Wallace and husband Bill of Independence, MO and Laura W. Bowen of Independence, MO. She is also survived by a sister Eleanor Shade of Lancaster, PA and by numerous nieces and nephews.
