Lt. Col. Ray Yeager Boyer
Ray Yeager Boyer, 87 of Independence passed away Tue. Feb 13, 2007. Colonel Boyer was born on June 21, 1919 to Ora and Minerva (Yeager) Boyer in Tamaqua, PA. He enlisted in the Army in 1937 and was commissioned in 1942. He served in the European Theater in England, France and Germany and in the Far East Command in Korea and Japan. His last assignment was with the Army General Staff at the Pentagon in the Office of Deputy Chief of Staff for Logistics, where he had served on the budget committee with President Gerald Ford when Ford was in congress. He retired from the US Army in 1962. He had also been the Pension and Profit sharing officer with United Missouri Bank for 21 years, retiring in 1983. Ray was a loving husband, father and grandfather who enjoyed spending time with his family and doing cryptograms. He is survived by his wife, Agnes Boyer of Independence, three sons, John Boyer and wife Kathleen of Independence, Kurt Boyer and wife Catherine of Kansas City, MO and Karl Boyer of Utah. One sister, Hazel Adams of Tamaqua, PA, five grandchildren and a great granddaughter. At Colonel Boyer�s request there will be no services and a private entombment was held in Md. Grove Cemetery.
