Thomas William Boynton, 80, passed away on January 13, 2017.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, Jan. 19, from 6-8pm, at Carson-Speaks Chapel, 1501 W. Lexington Ave. A funeral service will be held on Friday, Jan. 20, at 10am. Burial will take place in Mount Washington Cemetery.
Tom was born on Jan. 2, 1937, in Independence, MO, to Victor and Geneva (Brown) Boynton. He graduated from William Chrisman High School in the class of 1954. He met Joyce Hammond at a drive-in restaurant, and they married in 1961. He worked for First National Bank of Kansas City as a teller and an officer, and retired from there after 27 years of service. He had a brief managerial role for the VFW #1000 as well. In his spare time, Tom loved to go camping and boating at his property in Stockton, MO. He was also passionate about his Kansas City Chiefs – on Sundays, he could be found watching multiple football games in his basement, but the Chiefs always got most of his attention!
Tom is survived by his wife and best friend of 56 years, Joyce; son, Tom Boynton, Jr.; 5 grandchildren, Amy Wilkerson (husband, Jared), Whitney Boynton, Carrie Boynton (husband, Andrew Norris), Kalli Boynton, and Tommy Boynton; and 2 great-grandchildren on the way.
He was preceded in death by his son, Scott Boynton; parents, Victor and Geneva Boynton; and siblings, Victor Boynton, John Boynton, Eugene Boynton, and Betty Ingram.
