James “Brad” Bradbury, 84, of Raytown, MO passed away peacefully on January 30th, 2021. Brad was born on August 6, 1936, to Robert and Leona (Carney) Bradbury in Kingsville, MO.
Growing up on the family farm, Brad attended and graduated from Holden High School in 1954. After high school Brad attended trade school where he spent 2 years learning and developing the skills that would lead to a 4-decade long career as a journeyman plumber. In addition to being a skilled tradesman, Brad was a loyal and active member of the local Plumbers union where he forged numerous lifelong friendships.
Brad married his wife of 60 years, Carolyn Sue Martin on June 11, 1960. Shortly thereafter they moved to Raytown, MO and together they raised a family that included a daughter, son, and 5 grandchildren.
In addition to his work and family, Brad loved the outdoors including fishing and hunting, a good tractor-pull, tinkering with anything mechanical, as well as going to flea markets and sales.
Brad will be remembered by family, friends, and neighbors as a hard- working man that believed that any job that was worth doing was worth doing right. He could always be counted on to lend a hand or a tool, provide how-to advice, or to share a funny story or two or three.
Brad leaves behind his wife Carolyn; daughter Rebecca Sue Carter; son- in-law Ernest Carter; son James “Rusty” Bradbury; daughter-in-law Tawnya Bradbury; grandchildren Chrissy, Jenna, Dani, Cohen, and Avrey; sister Rosemary Kelly.
A celebration of Brad’s life with family and friends is planned for a future date to be determined.
