Floyd F. Bradford, Jr. 85, Independence, MO, formerly of Columbus, died Dec. 30, 2007. A memorial service will be held at 7 pm, Thursday, Jan. 3, 2008 at the 39th Street Congregation of the Community of Christ. Cremation. Floyd Francis Bradford. Jr. was born Aug. 12, 1922 to Floyd, Sr. and Viola Bradford in North Charleroi, PA. After graduating from Charleroi High School he briefly worked on a steamboat before moving to Columbus, OH. He married Marguerite Sensabaugh on Oct. 30, 1942.
For the duration of the War, he worked for the Columbus Army Depot Engineering Division. In 1948, he began with General Motors Ternstedt Division where he spent the next 36 years until his retirement in 1984. Floyd spent the next 10 years volunteering at Independence Regional Health Center as assistant chaplain and at the RLDS Auditorium Complex. He served a number of years as secretary of the Columbus Ohio Model Railroad Club and was a past member of the Independence Optimist Club. He was also a member of the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, where he served as a high school teacher, adult teacher, Priest, Elder, Assistant Pastor and Pastor at the Reynoldsburg Congregation of the Community of Christ in Columbus, Ohio.
Floyd was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Marguerite in 2001. He is survived by daughter Karen Lynn Hughes and husband Phil, Columbus, OH; sons Kent George Bradford and wife Sue, Lee’s Summit, MO; Keith Floyd Bradford and wife Charlotte, Raymore, MO; sister Sarah Milatovich, Lancaster, OH; brother Robert Bradford and wife Juanita, Sioux Falls, SD; grandchildren William Wentzel, Rachel Bradford, Rhonda Bradford, Angela Bradford, Karl Bradford and Kristin Bradford.
