Jack L. Brady, 92, of Kansas City, MO passed away on Friday, September 21, 2018. Visitation will be held from 1:00 – 2:00 PM Thursday, September 27, 2018 followed by a 2:00 PM memorial service at Speaks Suburban Chapel 18020 E 39th St. Independence, MO 64055. Jack was born May 30, 1926 in rural Davies County, MO. He attended Cameron High School, enlisted in the Navy in 1944 and served aboard a destroyer in the South Pacific. In 1951 he married Helen “Jody” O’Day. He joined the KCMO Police Department in 1951 and served until 1979. He attended the FBI National Academy in 1965 and later served as president, vice president and Secretary Treasurer of the Missouri and Kansas Chapter. In 1968 he helped set up and was the first Helicopter Unit Commander. He obtained his helicopter Instructor’s License and served in the unit for 4 years. During this time, he served as the first president of the Airborne Law Enforcement Organization, a National Organization. He retired from the Kansas City Police Dept in 1979 and was then employed by the Procter and Gamble Company as Security Manager for 12 years. In his retirement he enjoyed wood carving, fishing and gardening. Survivors include his wife Helen “Jody”, 4 children, 10 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. The family requests, in lieu of flowers, to please send donations to Cross Roads Hospice.
