Gioia A. Brainard, 76, Grain Valley, MO passed away Sept. 23, 2005 at her home. Cremation. Gioia was born March 28, 1929 in The Bronx, New York. She lived in the Independence area since 1966 and was a member of the Christ United Methodist Church. She was a music lover and was a member of the Sweet Adelines singing group. Gioia was also a member of the Air Force Sergeants Assoc. She is survived by her husband of 46 years Glenn H. Brainard, Sr. of the home; son Kirk L. Phillips and wife Joyce, Sibley, MO; daughter Tara D. English and husband Orville, Grain Valley, MO; daughter Sloan A. Short and husband Mark, Overland Park, KS; son Christopher A. Brainard and wife Jean, Lee�s Summit, MO; son Glenn H. Brainard, Jr. and wife Rhea, Sibley, MO; stepdaughter Claudia Wilcox and husband James, Independence, MO; stepson George I. Brainard, Knoxville, TN; stepdaughter Glenda K. Brainard, Arkansas; stepdaughter Barbara M. Bell and husband Richard, Miami, FL; seventeen grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
