Louis Hudson Braley, 72, of Independence, MO, passed away Wednesday, July 12, 2006 at Independence Regional Health Center. Services will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, July 17, 2006 at the First United Methodist Church of Independence. Visitation will be 5:00-7:00 p.m. Sunday, July 16, at Speaks Suburban Chapel. Burial in Oak Ridge Memory Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the church or to the Rotary Club. Louis was born August 14, 1933 in Marshall, MO to Clarence and Adeline Frances (Williams) Braley. He was a long-time resident of Independence and a 1951 graduate of William Chrisman High School. He then graduated from Central Missouri State University in 1955 and 1961 with degrees in Art Education. After 30 years of service, Mr. Braley retired from the Independence School District where he was the District Art Director and a teacher at Truman High School. He was a faithful member of the First United Methodist Church. He was also an active member of the Independence Rotary Club. Louis is survived by his wife of 22 years, Patricia (Harvey) Braley, sons and daughters-in-law Scott and Molly Braley, Colin and Beth Braley of Clearfield, UT, daughter Melissa Michael; grandchildren Adeline Rose Braley, Melanie Kelley, Stephen and Stephanie Michael; great-grandson Aidan Kelley; sister Valeen Pope and husband Jim of Danville, CA; and mother Adeline Braley. Louis was preceded in death by his father Clarence Hudson Braley.
