Dorothy Jean Branson, 89, passed away on February 7, 2023, at Wilshire at Lakewood in Lees Summit, MO. She was born to parents George and Emma Weymuth on May 10, 1933, in Lake Creek, MO. Dorothy was one of 12 kids, 4 brothers and 7 sisters and she was a twin to Donald. She was baptized on May 21, 1933, at the Holy Cross Lutheran Church of Lake Creek, MO and confirmed on March 30, 1947, at St Paul’s Lutheran Church in Stover, MO. Dorothy graduated Stover Lutheran High School on May 10, 1951. Dorothy married the love of her life James Branson on December 23, 1954 and had two sons James and Franklin. She worked at Lizer cosmetics in Kansas City, MO for 16 years and then started cleaning and was self-employed. Dorothy loved creating genealogy books for everyone and playing solitaire, always using the same deck to play even after it became hard to read. She loved tending to her own yard and even cut her own grass.
Dorothy is survived by her two sons Jim (Janie) Branson, and Franklin “Frank” Branson, two grandchildren, three great grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and other loved ones. She is preceded in death by her parents George and Emma Weymuth, and all of her siblings.
A graveside service will take place at 1pm on February 11, 2023 at Mt Washington Cemetery, with a viewing from 12:15pm until service time at Carson Speaks Chapel.
