Brenda Lea Dempsey

Brenda Dempsey 86, a lifelong resident on Independence, MO passed away peacefully at her home on Friday, February 7, 2025. Cremation is planned at there will be a celebration of Brenda’s life from 1 to 3:00 p.m., Saturday, February 15, 2025 at the Carson-Speaks Chapel with private inurnment to be held next to her husband in Mt. Washington Cemetery. 

 Brenda was born September 8, 1938 in Independence, MO. Brenda’s roots in the community ran deep. She will be fondly remembered by all who knew and loved her.

 Brenda married James (Jim) Dempsey. Their loving union spanned many years. Together they built a life with love and family. Brenda was a devoted mother of two children: Steven Edward Dempsey (Duane Goedecke) of Harlingen, TX and Jill Louise Dempsey (Tony Cartella) of Kearney, MO. She cherished her time with her family and left a legacy of love and devotion.

Brenda has a deep appreciation for the natural world. An avid nature lover, she could often be found outdoors, no mater the weather. Quiet time spent in her yard and tending to her garden brought her solace and joy. Her love for animals was also a defining part of her life. Over the years, she welcomed numerous pets into her home, providing them with love and care.

 Brenda was preceded in death by her parents and her beloved husband Jim. Her memory will be cherished by her children, Steven and Jill, their spouses, Duane and Tony and all who knew and loved her. She will be deeply missed.
