Virgil Paul Brewer, 80, Independence, Mo., died April 24, 2004, at the Groves in Independence, Missouri. Visitation will be 7-8:30 pm, Monday, April 26, 2004, at Speaks Suburban Chapel. Graveside services will be private at Mound Grove Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to Hospice, 400 N.W. Murray Rd., Lee�s Summit, MO 64081-1498. Mr.Brewer was born Feb. 3, 1924 in Archie, Mo., to Bert and Geneva Brewer and lived most of his life in the Independence area. He had been a Physical Test inspector for thirty-nine years with Bendix. He was a member of the RLDS church, and held the priesthood office of Teacher. He was a member of the White Mask Players, a church theatrical group from 1954-57. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy as Quarter Master in WW II and served from May, 1943 until June, 1946. He was a member of the Boy Scouts of America and an Honorary Warrior in the Tribe of Mic-O-Say. He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, Kenneth Brewer, Arthur Brewer, Harrison Brewer, and Marion Brewer, along with a daughter, Paula Brewer. Mr. Brewer�s survivors include his wife, of nearly fifty years, Rachel Ione Brewer, Indep., MO; three daughters, Jackie Jewell and husband, Clifford, Indep., MO; Donna Huckabey and husband, Milton, Lee�s Summit, MO; and Sharon Rock, and husband, David, Indep., MO; three sons, Bud Walls and wife, Cheryl, Indep., MO; Larry Walls and wife, Julie, Battle Creek, IA; and Kirk Brewer and wife, Althea, Raytown, MO; two sisters, Oneta Cook of Grandview, MO and Maxine Sumner of Spring Hill, KS; one brother, Luther Brewer of Daytona, FL; twenty grandchildren and thirty-nine great-grandchildren.
