Rebecca Viola Brightwell

Rebecca Viola Brightwell, 87 of Independence, MO passed away Thu. May 12, 2005 at her home. Services will be 1:00 pm, Tue. May 17, 2005 at the Carson-Speaks Chapel, 1501 W. Lexington Ave., Indep, MO. Burial in Woodlawn Cemetery. Visitation will be from 7 - 8:30 pm Monday at the Chapel. Contributions are suggested to Crossroads Hospice. Mrs. Brightwell was born on Sep. 17, 1917 to Willie and Millie (Irvine) Beavers in Austin, AR and had lived in the Independence area since 1942. She was a loving homemaker who loved to quilt, sew and garden. She was extremely proud of her family and enjoyed spending time with them. Her loving smile will be missed by all. Mrs. Brightwell was preceded in death by her husband, James P. Brightwell in 1976. She is survived by four sons, Bill Brightwell and partner Lana Shook, both of Independence; Charles Brightwell and wife Linda of Goodyear, AZ; Larry Brightwell and wife Dolores of Orrick, MO and Michael Brightwell and wife Charlene of Kansas City, MO. Four daughters, Carolyn Parker and husband Jerry of Moab, UT; Elizabeth Donelson and husband Gary of Lathrop, MO; Patricia Ortiz and husband Louis of Shawnee, KS and Sandra Kaleikau and husband Dennis of Independence, MO. A sister, Ada Whitcomb of DeValls Bluff, AR. Twenty grandchildren and thirty-seven great grandchildren.
