Gene Brockman

Gene L. Brockman, 84 of Independence, MO left this earth Wednesday, June 20, 2012 at Centerpoint Medical Center.
Services will be 10:00 a.m., Monday, June 25, 2012 at the Speaks Suburban Chapel 18020 E. 39th St., Independence, MO 64055. Burial will follow in Mound Grove Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 6 to 8:00 p.m., Sunday evening at the chapel.
Gene was born October 19, 1927 in Independence, MO to Samuel and Essie (Kelley) Brockman. Gene worked at Polly’s Soda Pop in his early years and later at Lake City Ammunition Plant before retiring from Armco Steel after many years in 1992. Gene had been a member of the Six Mile Baptist Church since the 1960’s. He was a loving father and grandfather. He was known as “Poppy” to his grandchildren and loved to travel and spend time with his family.
He is survived by his children; Michael Brockman and wife Steffany of Independence, MO, Dennis Brockman and wife LaNita of Clinton, MO, Susan Willis and Mark Brockman and wife April of Independence, MO and Jeff Brockman and wife Mary of Malta Bend, MO; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, one great great grandchild many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his loving wife Faye in December of 2010, his parents and eight siblings.
