Frank Brogdon

J. Frank Brogdon, 82, of Independence, MO passed away January 10, 2017. A visitation will be held from 9-10:00 a.m. followed by a 10:00 a.m. service on Monday, January 16, at the Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E. 39th St., Independence, MO. Burial at Mound Grove Cemetery. Frank was born August 8, 1934 in Hutchinson, KS to Clarence and Myrtle (Gordon) Brogdon. He spent several years in the Naval Reserves. Frank was a lifelong member of Bethel Baptist Church in Independence, MO. He was an avid reader, loved hunting, fishing, gardening, snowmobiling and woodworking. He strived to become a master gardener with his roses and orchids. He owned several businesses, including Brogdon Tool & Die; a fishing lure company; and was a co-owner of Nisswa Dock. Frank went to Bangor, Maine and learned canoe building skills, eventually making two wooden canoes. He had a wonderful personality and will be remembered fondly as a practical joker. Frank was preceded in death by his parents; and one daughter, Donna Bass-Williamson. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Shirley Brogdon; three children, Susan Kelley and husband Scot, Peggy Francis and husband Rick, Carl Brogdon and wife Stacey; seven grandchildren; and four great grandchildren.
