Dr. Ronald W. Brooks, Ed. D., passed away March 11, 2016. Services will be 2 pm, Thursday, March 17 at Speaks Buckner Chapel, 300 Adams, Buckner, MO 64016; interment at Buckner Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be 6-8 pm, Wed. at the chapel. Ron was born on September 29, 1934, in Bisbee, AZ, the only child of Walter and Mildred Brooks. During his youth he enjoyed the companionship of extended family on adventures in the Arizona Mountains and desert. He later moved to Lamoni, IA where he attended Graceland College in pursuit of his calling to become a psychologist. He also studied at the Universities of Missouri, Nebraska, and Kansas where he received his Doctorate in Educational Psychology. He enjoyed a lifetime of helping others in his ministry as a psychologist. He was a life-long member of the R.L.D.S. church serving in many capacities including: Regional Youth Pastor, Deacon, Elder, and Pastor of the Grain Valley Congregation. In his retirement he served as a hospital chaplain. His ministry continued at St. Mary’s Manor where he counseled his fellow residents, praying for them, and helping them through end of life issues until his own passing. He is survived by his daughters, Cindy Knapp and Debbie Walker and husband Steve. He also leaves behind five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
