Russell Brooks, 72, of Pleasant Hill, MO passed away February 13, 2019 at Research Hospital. A memorial service will be held at 6:00 p.m. followed by a visitation to last until 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 21, at the Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E. 39th St., Independence, MO. Contributions may be made to the MO Department of Conservation or St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital. Russell was born May 8, 1946 in Swain County, NC to Joseph M. and Ethyl Parris Brooks. In 1964, he graduated from Swain County High School. After graduating high school, Russell moved from Bryson City, NC to Independence, MO, and worked for Lipton Tea for 34 years, before retiring in 2001. In 2003, Russell decided retirement didn’t keep him busy enough so he began working for Service Master DSI of KC. He was very active, and enjoyed bowling on the Lipton Men’s Bowling League and a mixed league, which he accomplished bowling a 300 game. He also played men’s slow pitch softball, and enjoyed fishing. Russell is survived by his loving wife of 32 years, Debi Brooks; children, Tammy Martinez (Vince) of Orrick, MO, Michelle Forbes of Atchison, KS, Danielle Brooks of Blue Springs, MO, Amber Chisesi (Matt) of Lee’s Summit, MO and April Davis of Pleasant Hill, MO; brothers, Raymond Brooks (Julie) of Pleasant Hill, MO, Gerald Brooks (Donna) of Kansas City, MO, Kim Brooks (Mindy) of Shawnee, KS and Wayne Brooks (Lisa) of Holden, MO; and grandchildren, Makenzie Brooks, Mitchell Martinez, Tyler Chisesi, Tierney Brooks and Braylee Davis; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and lifelong friends.
